Happy Mardi Gras!

Today is freakin FAT TUESDAY! Oh how I wish I was in New Orleans right now but alas I am not. I've been to New Orleans 3 times, once for Mardi Gras and twice for Halloween. Both holidays are awesome times but I recommend going for Halloween because it is just so much more fun. Less tourists.

So anywho, I didn't go walking yesterday. I needed to recover from my all day drinking fest I had on Sunday. I was up pretty late Sunday night and wasn't able to get enough sleep so I spent my break on Monday napping. Today I made up for it though. I did a little extra to put me over 3 miles walked instead of the usual 2.5 miles I've been doing.

Tonight I plan on going out. I have no idea what I am going to be doing. I know that Ed is working down at DH this evening so I will probably head there although I did hear about a FOAM PARTY at Busters up on Peoria Road or something like that. I personally have never been there but it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

I also know that Harry's is having a Mardi Gras party with a DJ and Gumbo to eat. Mmmm, Gumbo.

Besides that I haven't really heard of anything.

So at midnight starts the season of LENT. I remember last year I gave up a few things, alcohol, soda, and fast food. As of right now I really don't eat fast food nor drink soda. Also I don't want to give up alcohol since I just got done taking 2 and a half months off from it so I think I'm good in that department. So, This year I think I am going to do something even more difficult for me. You may ask, how can you get more difficult than those? Well, I plan on giving up all bread and bread related products. Starchy vegetables are still okay. I'm going more for processed items like, cereal, bread, pastas, crackers, and things of that nature. I am in love with bread. I can eat a slice every time I pass through the kitchen. SO I am doing this for me and for LENT. It will be tough. Very tough. There is so much bread out there.

Awesome Night.

So I had a great night last night. Somehow I got into Super Mingling Mode and I was all over the place just chatting it up with everyone. I love it when I have nights like that. Rather than down and out K that just sits at the bar and doesn't talk much, getting around and hob nobbing with everyone I know is so much more fun. I met new people last night too because of it and got to know some aquiantences better.

The trivia night was a blast. Our team got dead last place out of 24 teams. We rock! We got travel coffee mugs because of it. I love it when last place is rewarded for sucking it up so incredibly bad. The questions were really hard though and some teams there are professional trivia teams that apparently scope out all the trivia nights and do a trivia night just about every weekend. We needed people who were more specialized in topics. I think Ed would have been a good asset to the team with his sports knowledge.

I just got done walking at the park again. I did the 2.5 mile loop in 43 minutes nonstop. Pretty good for me considering the lack of exercise prior to this point. I feel really good right now because of it too. Exercise is just a matter of getting out and doing it. I enjoy it while I am doing it. I need to keep telling myself that.

Now I'm about to go hang out with Ed and do a few fun fun things. Gotta shower first then picking him up.

Leave me a comment party people.

Feeling Better

Well, I just got done walking at Washington Park. It is a beautiful day out. I put in a good 2.5 miles walking for about 45 minutes nonstop. I haven't had a good walk like that in over 2 months. Expecting surgeries and having back to back surgeries really puts a damper on keeping up with exercise. I plan on walking everyday this next week. I have to get back to it. I really do. I haven't really gained any weight but at the same time I have lost a lot of muscle mass because my "going out" clothes are too tight to wear right now even though I am still less than when I started wearing them. So I need to start getting back into shape and hopefully even better shape than I've ever been before.

Tonight I am doing a Trivia Night with friends. It is at the Prairie Heart Center and benefits the Children's Miracle Network. Apparently they are serving dinner and there will be beer there. This should be an even better time than expected. I don't know if we get anything if we win. I don't expect to win though, I just expect to have a good time.

Life

I'm a P*ssy. Right now I hate myself. Yes, I've been drinking. No, I will not explain. I'm going to bed, goodnight.

Things are looking up.

So, I've been feeling much better. The healing process from all of my surgeries seems to be finalizing. I've gotten back to eating better. Still not totally there yet but I'm doing well. Exercise is what I really need to get back to. I'm going to be going back to FitClub very soon and start up a walking/weight lifting program for myself. I'm going to get buff folks. I'm naturally pretty strong just by being a big guy but I want to increase that strength and that will help burn calories also.

This weekend should be a pretty exciting weekend for me. I'm working the door tonight down at DH Browns. Then tomorrow night I am doing a trivia night that benefits the Children's Miracle Network. Afterwards I probably will head down to the bar. Not sure on that one.

Report

I don't have much to report.

I did notice that Becky posted a new entry on her blog in regards to her soon to be born baby.

Here is the link to the new entry

Life as I know it

Other than that, the Illini are pissing me off, even in High Definition.

Baseball season starts soon. YAY! Can't wait to see all the changes and moves that the Cubs have made put into action.

This week is dragging along. I'm looking forward to Friday. This could be a HUGE weekend for me. Let's hope at least.

Would anyone that has a membership to Sam's Club be interested in taking me out there so that I can make a purchase in the next few days? Post a comment, text, or call me please.

I AM WORKING THE DOOR ON FRIDAY NIGHT. EVERYONE COME AND SEE ME. I was very disappointed in the turn out last Friday. Melissa is the only one who took the time to come and hang with me. Thanks Melissa!

I roam from town to town

So my life is mundane. I work. I hang out with children for most of my day. Today they drove me nuts. Well not really, but they stressed me out.

Since I was in the hospital my sleeping patterns have been all messed up. While in the hospital I would be up til all hours of the night because they of course would come in and bother me every so often so I didn't get a chance for good sleep. Not that I could get good sleep in those uncomfortable beds. Ick.

So anyway, I've been staying up until about 2 or 3 in the morning while I get up at about 6am. This does not make for a fun day but luckily I have a break in the middle of the day. This affords me time to nap if I need it. Well, I prefer not to nap if I can help it but since I haven't been sleeping much I really couldn't help it. So I set out last night to put an end to the napping and staying up insanely late. I came home from work at 6, ate dinner, then proceeded to take 3 tylenol PMs. I've taken 3 before without any problems but also in the past it didn't have a huge effect on me either. Well, I don't know if it is because of the lack of sleep but halfway through the ILLINI game I passed out, litterally. My mom had to wake me up to tell me that the game was over while I am sleeping sitting up on the couch with my head proped up on my hand. Well, I proceeded to go to bed at 9pm. I have no idea of the last time I headed to bed that early with intentions of sleeping the entire night. I slept until about midnight, I woke up. I was like, "Crap, I woke up." but I walked around the house and then went and layed back down. I then did not wake up until my alarm went off at 6am. That was some of the best sleep ever. Then today, thinking, hey, I got tons of sleep and won't need a nap was wrong, but I forced myself through. I got tired toward the end of my break but figured I would be fine and I was.

Happy Birthday ABE!

Abraham Lincoln was born February 12, 1809.

President Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He was assassinated on Good Friday, April 14, 1865, by John Wilkes Booth while attending a play entitled Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre. This was the first Presidential assassination in American history.

The first formal observance of his birthday took place in 1866, the year after his assassination, when both houses of Congress gathered for a memorial address. While Lincoln's Birthday did not become a federal holiday like George Washington's, it did become a legal holiday in several states.

Abraham Lincoln is remembered for his role as the leader in preserving the Union during the Civil War and beginning the process that led to the end of slavery in the United States. He is also remembered for his character, his speeches and letters, and as a man of humble origins whose determination and perseverance led him to the nation's highest office.
