Some Kind of Wonderful

My birthday was a blast. Thanks to everyone who came out to help me celebrate. It means so much to know that I've got wonderful friends and family. Also, for those who were unable to make it out thanks for all the calls and texts and myspace comments.

I got some wonderful thoughtful gifts. I love them all because when I got each gift I thought to myself, "you know me so well". You know they are good gifts when you get things you love and never had to ask for them.

From my Uncle, he wrote me a poem on the spot. I want to share it because I love it so

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Your dad's name is Fred
With whom you should drink some Tullamore Dew

Kyle is known for his shaved head
Which every couple days he must shave anew
Kyle is also known for liking to stay in bed
And they say he's not adverse to a drink or two

Birthdays may sometimes weigh you down like lead
That's why it's good having friends to celebrate that are true
And having birthdays beats the alternative of being dead
It's my hope that you always have full pockets whenever the tab comes due.

1 day

Actually and technically, just 13 hours until my 26th birthday. At the stroke of midnight I will be at my night job but shortly thereafter I plan on letting the birthday fun commence.

Coming To A Close

This has been an interesting weekend. I had high expectations and ended up with totally different results. That is life though, right? I still had an awesome time. Friday was good while working the door. People came out. We had fun. Some had to leave earlier than I thought but there is always next time. Saturday I slept in and then took my mom out to dinner for her belated Mother's Day dinner that I promised her. We went to O'Charley's and it was delicious as always. I love that place. Then I met up with my dad and his buddy's at Spammy's. Hung out there until about 9:30 and then headed downtown. I was unofficially celebrating my birthday but it was actually my friend's little sister's 21st birthday so I ended up tagging along with them until that party disolved. Then it was late and not many people were left so I headed back to my place.

Today I woke up around noon and went to Show-Me's with RD and Josh. We didn't go until about 2pm though. The Cubs finally won a game. Thank goodness. Almost losing an entire homestand would have been bad, still is bad just nice to know that they got 1 win in. I'm just chilling at my parents' place right now and I'm supposed to go play some sand volleyball at the S.View Park. I think that I will just watch. I don't have a whole lot of energy right now and I do work at Hollywood tonight at 7pm.

So I think that I will be doing a downtown bar hop for my birthday on Tuesday. I don't know for sure what order and what not. I do know that I'm doing dinner with my family at 6pm. I haven't picked out a restaurant yet. I should think more about it when I am actually hungry instead of full because nothing sounds good right now. So I'm thinking about telling people to meet at DH Brown's at 8ish. Then we will hit up the Monroe Bars and maybe a few 5th street bars.

So give me a call on the cell on Tuesday to see where we are at or just head down to DH at 8. I don't think that dinner will last 2 hours....

I'm half the man I once was

Me 7 years ago would have hopped in my car and made the trip by myself. I'm almost mad at myself because I didn't go. I rationalized it to myself saying that it would be better for me to just stay in Springfield and try it another time. When will I get another time though? That is what I wonder.

I'm getting older and I feel it happening. I don't want it to happen. I'm at a good age. I wish I could just halt it right here. I don't feel that I'm going downhill or anything I just feel like a plateau is being reached. I will be 26 in just a little over a week. June 5th.

I went to a HV co-worker's party last night. Had a good time.

Today went to Darcy's with a buddy. I tried the veggie horseshoe. It was very tastey. It wasn't as scrumptious as a bacon cheeseburger horseshoe with american fries from Suzie Q's but it was good in its own right.

My parents left for the weekend. A few friends are out of town for a wedding for the weekend. Other friends are out of town too.

BUT E &A are in town and now I am going to the Cardinals vs Nationals game tomorrow down in Saint Louis. I know I know... I am a Chicago Cubs fan but how can a pass the opportunity to go to a major league game and enjoy the atmosphere, sights, and beverages. I love baseball as a whole. Seeing as how my weekend is completely freed up I had no reservations about saying yes.

I got some more DVD's.... I know I'm on a kick right now.

Clerks. X: The tenth aniversary edition
Mallrats (10th Anniversary Extended Edition)
The Frighteners (Director's Cut)
The Blues Brothers (Widescreen 25th Anniversary Edition)

I also preordered :

Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition (Superman - The Movie / Superman II / Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut / Superman III / Superman IV - The Quest ... Superman Returns) (2007 Corrected Edition)

This actually came out a while back, like in the fall. That edition had problems with it like they left things out of it and it wasn't as complete as they claimed it to be. So I waited patiently for them to reissue the corrected version with all the bells and whistles and now it is finally available for order!
