Lil' bebe

I love it! I just had lunch today with Nattie, Monica, RD, and Becky and her new lil' bebe Landon. I got to hold him while Becky ate too. It was so fun. I love babies. He is so cute. He made this squished face which apparently meant that he wanted his bottle. Looked like a bitter beer face to me. Just like in those old beer commercials. I know this sounds typical but I would love to have my own kid(s) (when the time is right). I love kids. Landon is great. He slept mainly the whole time I held him, except for a few stretches every so often. Nattie then pulled rank and requested him from me. I regretfully gave him up. Of course I got the "You'd make a great father" line. Which I feel is expected when a man is holding a wee little baby. She said I could babysit in the future. I don't know how serious she was but I would be more than happy to babysit when the time comes.

Blah

Went to lunch with Mr. Shoo and Ed yesterday. That was fun. Went to McCormick's and it was alright. It would have been better if I could have had the sandwich. But alas, no, I cannot.

I was going to workout last night but Mr. Shoo cancelled and then I lost my motivation. I ended up sitting at the computer all night. Which I've found out only burns barely any more calories than sleeping. I forget the exact number.

It is only Tuesday and I am already praying for the weekend to get her fast. My kids are all at each other's throats over very trivial things. I hope the weather gets better soon. I think that may be a factor.

I've got a huge knot in my upper right shoulder muscle. It is driving me insane. It started last night and it hasn't gone away yet. I took 4 generic tylenol at once and it has only helped a little bit. Yikes.

I've got plans with Kirsten and Lori to go work out tonight. Hopefully this one comes through. I need to get in there and hit the cardio hard. And some light weights would be nice too.

Being cryptic is the spice of life. I learned it all from Mr. Shoo. More on that later...

Poker Night

Tonight is poker night at Ed's. Yay! This is going to be fun. Almost like a homecourt advantage. Maybe not. We'll see. I really do want a win. I haven't had one in a long time. I could use the money too. But when do I not "need the money"

Every weekend my dad thinks that I am hung over. He'll say, yeah, this and that are more difficult when you are hung over. Then I reply everytime, I'm not hung over. I've just got things on my mind. Then as a good father does he tries to get me to open up but it really isn't worth it. I don't need critique and analysis of my life at home too. I get enough of it elsewhere.

A Trooper

Well folks I made it. I started drinking at noon and I made it all the way until after 3am. That is 15+ hours of partying and having fun. Granted I paced myself and fared much better than last Saturday. I had a wonderful time. For the first half of my day I owe that to Lori, Kirsten, and Terry, for the second half of my evening I owe the fun to Molly. Without her, well, I don't want to think about it...

Thanks.

As for my main concern...

I think that I will let it slide. It seems as though it isn't happening. If it comes up, cool. If it doesn't come up, oh well. Better luck next time.

May the luck of the Irish be with you.

Usual Friday

I work the door tonight at Brown's if anyone wants to come hang out with me or just say hi, stop on by.

And then

Now what?

I got my mind set on you

But it's gonna take money
A whole lotta spending money
It's gonna take plenty of money

It's gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
It's gonna take patience and time

Who's got good credit?

It's me! It's me!

Awwww yeeeah, I just checked my credit score and out of 830 I have a 712 and I think it is that just because my credit is pretty new. Student loans and car loans and such. So it can only get better. I'm stoked.

Let the mysteries unfold

So I have finally done it. I have started reading the Chronicles of Narnia. I've been wanting to tackle this series since I saw the movie. So far so good. And it seems that the movie stays pretty close to the book.

Also I have found that there are arguments over the proper order in which to read the books. There is the order of publication date or there is the internal chronological order. I am going with the order of publication date because I read that it helps to keep things shrouded in mystery and suspense instead of knowing about things before things happen. Or whatnot. At least it matters for a first time reader. Now when I plan on revisiting them I read it won't matter as much obviously since I would have read them all already.

*** addition
Here is a link to Wikipedia where it has a good description of the reading order argument. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia
***

So I am starting with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. The first published in the series.

Now I think that I will fly through these books because they don't appear to be as long as Harry Potter was. Doesn't mean I won't enjoy them just the same.

I would like to thank my sister Jen for bringing me this boxed set of Narnia while I was in the hospital. Shannon was supposed to have chipped in so I will thank her too. Thank you Jen and Shannon.

Sleep is good

I just woke up again. And I just took more sleeping meds. If sleeping all day and all night makes me better then so be it. I want to get better now. And I'm trying my hardest to make this a quick recovery.

Prayers Answered

Thank you God. I prayed that this blizzard overnight would be enough to cancel school today and it was. I have no sick days and just 1 personal day left and I didn't want to have to use the last lone personal day already. But I need rest. I woke up naturally and started watching the news and of course our district waited until the last possible minute. Then a few minutes later I got the call, then I had to make my call. Now here I sit. I just redrugged myself and I am going back to sleep.

The Verdict

Well with some advice from the professional (GTG), I checked out the back of my throat. I think I might put her to shame on the grossness factor. Even my doctor was like, "Yeah, that is gross". So thank goodness I decided to go to the doctor and not tough it out because it turns out that I have a bad case of Strep Throat. The normal refill of amoxacillin isn't potent enough and they gave me stronger stuff. He was all happy that it was Strep though because he didn't want it to be worse... like mono. Apparently you cannot just nuke it with drugs like you can Strep.

I am going to bed very soon. But first I must share! I went to Brown's this evening to enter my Barstool Open team into a drawing that when won, Brown's will sponser our team. Yeah, it was just one other team and our team. We had a 50/50 chance and I freaking WON IT! Amanda was so proud and wants me to play the lottery now. Phil was like, "cool" and Mels was MIA.

Something's going around

Well crap, I am sick now. LOVE IT!

So, did everyone have a great Saint Patty's Day Weekend?

I know I did, I'm still hearing about it.

Thanks for de-linking everyone. Hits are way up. Smooth.

Short on Time

Well I just want to get a quick post up. I have to leave for work within 5 minutes. I was out shopping today for apparel tonight. I was all over the place. I highly recommend that everyone STILL avoid Wabash. It sucks BUTT! BUT, anywho, I work the door tonight for Saint Patrick's Day down at DH Brown's. I will be working from 7pm - 1am, the long haul and everyone needs to come down and see me all dressed up!

NCAA basketball has been exciting so far. I wish I was Amanda and could watch every single game. Have fun with that while I earn my keep. ;)

Tomorrow at Noon I will be going to Marley's to see an awesome Irish Band called Emerald Underground and another one called The Lash or something like that. Everyone should join me there. They were scheduled for the St. Pat's Observed but that changed so it may not be too busy. Let me know if you are coming so I can expect you.

So I have photos of the trees that are down. You've seen them here FIRST. Notice the stud in red.

Me by the Elm from our yard that fell into the duplex yard.

The branch hanging over our property and also the Walnut over our back fence is on the far right.
Also you can see the Walnut in the above picture because it is laying across the Elm.

HNT - Back to the Humdrum of Life

Well, we still have big trees down in our backyard but I am back to work. I worked this morning. It was kind of nice to be back to work, I guess. I was enjoying the time off and not being in the hospital or in a lot of pain.

I have seen the Half Nekkid Thursdays for a while now but I have never participated. Here is a Photo for HNT

Still no word back on something very important to me. Blah. I blame the tornado(s) for now. It has put everything and everyone into disarray. I just hope this isn't a signal.

I work the door down at DH Brown's this coming Friday, TOMORROW. I will be in for the long haul and working from 7pm until 1am. Super long shift but we expect to be busy so I start earlier than normal. Everyone should come down and see me. IT WILL BE OFFICIAL SAINT PATRICKS DAY! I'm thinking of not wearing green so cute girls will be inclined to give a little pinch. Oh baby.

Also TONIGHT! Illinois opens NCAA Tournament play on Thursday in San Diego, Calif., taking on Air Force in the first round. Game-time is set for 6:25 p.m. CT and will be televised by CBS. Everyone and their mom should come down to DH Browns to watch on 1 of the 3 televisions and in surround sound. I know a ton of people are already coming. I plan on being there by 6:30ish. PLUS! It is Import Night. All import bottles and drafts are just $2.00. Gotta appreciate that and take advantage. Cheap good beer and Illini Basketball. Good times!

Dag Nabbit

Darn! I have to go back to work tomorrow. I've been enjoying having time off of work and not being in the hospital. It's a change of pace. Now granted, I am not happy about the circumstances of the tornados but still, it's time off to do different things. So yeah, back to work for me.

My sister Jen is home this evening. I dragged her to the bar with me. We chilled and had a few drinks. She requested to be home before 10:30 and I obliged. There wasn't really anyone out this evening anyway.

Everyone is saving up for the ILLINI game tomorrow evening. Bring on the Big Dance.

Well, surprisingly, I am going to go to bed here soon. Yeah, just a few minutes from now I will be in bed. I figure I will need sleep to handle the hyper hypos in the morning. Since they had 5 days off from school too. I've got to remember that I am not the only one. I still wish they had just went ahead and given us the entire week off. That would have been sweet. Then I could have planned ahead and maybe left town or something but nooooooo I had to live day by day wondering if I had the next day off or not and then BAM I don't have the next day off and I have to get up at 6:15am again.... ick.

Well, hopefully I'm doing lunch with my sister tomorrow. She's home for a teacher's conference and will probably get an hour lunch so we will be able to hang out some more. I love my long long lunch.

Goodnight Kids. I hope everyone has their power back on soon. I know I'm estatic that I get to fall asleep to the television again. I haven't done that since Saturday night.

I'm Back!

St. Patrick's Day parade postponed

Mayor Tim Davlin announced today that downtown Springfield's annual St. Patrick's Day parade, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to lingering effects of the storm.

The parade is now scheduled to step off at noon March 25.

Hello Folks! My house finally has power! As of 2pm this afternoon it came back on and it stayed on. The internet was up and running too. Thank goodness.

Not much else to report. I don't have photos to post yet. I'm lazy.

Give my cell phone a call if you are up for going out this evening. As of right now I don't know if I have work tomorrow or not. They haven't broke the news yet.

Wow

I am posting from Ed's apartment right now. My neighborhood got hit really really hard in the "bad weather" we had Sunday evening. We have 2 big trees down in our yard. Our power is still out. Tons of power lines are down in my neighborhood. Luckily the bar has power or else, well, I don't want to think of what would happen...

I've got fun stories of The Storm. But I don't feel like sitting here and typing it all out.

I am up to 99 pounds lost. Yeah that's right beeyatches. More and more studly every day. Start forming the line ladies.

I'm so nervous. Eeeek!

So far so good

Today has been a good day. I went walking in the park with Amanda. Then she and I rented Walk The Line and watched it on the big TV. Then after that I headed home but made a stop off at Burlington to indulge in some shirt buying. I love buying new good fitting clothes. Then I headed the rest of the way home and had some dinner and now I'm going to get ready to go out. Hopefully it's a good night.

The Incredibly Shrinking Kyle

My oh my. So much running through my head. And yet I can't think of anything to share. I do know this though. I've lost 2 pounds since yesterday. Which puts me at 97 pounds lost total! WHAHOO! I'm down to 253. For those keeping track that is 9 pounds on the Lent Bet. Davis, has got a challenge on his hands.

Now I am going walking in the park with Amanda. We're going now before the weather gets too icky outside. Supposed to storm pretty nasty later today and through the night.

I haven't posted many photos in a while. Here are some photos from 2/11 when a few of us were out celebrating Ed's 25th Birthday.

Life is good

I think my life is finally starting to look up. Not that it hadn't at some points in the past but I've had some really hard times lately. The weight loss obviously is a huge part of my life and is a major contributor to things looking up. The job is going very well right now. My personal life is always improving too.

To answer Monica's question the bet is with Davis.

Things that make you say hmmmm

I am SOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow-weeeee

So, I have now lost 7 pounds since starting the Lent Diet. Which puts me at 95 pounds lost. I'm still stoked. I have been to the FitClub for the past 3 days in a row. Which is awesome. I have started hitting the weights again. I'm happy about that. I am still sore though. Still breaking down the old muscles and building new muscle. Things are going pretty well right now. Here are a few pics from a few minutes ago. I love doing photo shoots now! I have good reason though.

It's A Boy!

Well Friend Becky and her hubby Jason are now proud parents. Yesterday she gave birth to a 9 lb 12 oz baby boy and his name is Landon Joseph. I was pushing for her to name the little tyke Kyle but as much as she likes the name she went another route. I hear that both the baby and mother are healthy and well. Congratulations to Becky! You'll be an excellent mother.

Blogs Gone Too Far

I usually listen to the Molson and Lee show on WMAY 970 at some point in the afternoon, mainly between 2 and 2:30 on my way back to work. Well, my dad usually has it on the garage radio and he was out there today and comes inside telling me to turn on the radio to WMAY. Apparently Molson and Andy Lee were talking about blogs and MySpace.com. I'm like, okay cool, so I turn it on and sure enough. What was funny is that I was sitting here actually surfing through MySpace.com at that very moment. But anyway, if you don't listen to Molson and Lee you should. It is on the AM radio 970 from noon until 3 weekdays. IF you miss it you can get on their website which I always have linked on the right, http://molsonandlee.com/index.html

On their site you can download or listen to their "PODCAST" which is a commercial free airing of their shows. I highly suggest you check them out. They do a great show. I never was a big AM radio fan until them.

Plus this being "Blog World" I find today's show very relevant. They talk about them being journals of peoples life and such.

Shaping Up

Well last night I finally did it. I went to FitClub and while there I finally lifted weights. I mainly focused on my arms and chest muscles. I am feeling it today. I cannot even recall the last time I lifted. Could be something like 6 months and I hadn't kept up with it for a long period of time. I do know this, by the time summer rolls around I plan on being buff as hell. Well, you're right, I will be MORE buff as hell. I also did 30 minutes on the tredmill at a 9 incline and 3mph the entire time.

I went down to the bar after working out last night. As I did the night before. I haven't been going there to drink alcohol though I've been going to be social and get hydrated. There is something about hanging out with a pint of water in my hands that it goes down so much smoother than if I was sitting at home trying to drink as much. I have been known to put away about 5 to 8 pints of water depending on how incredibly dehydrated I am. Amanda and Ed made an appearance to play some pinball and some 11-ball. I'm upset, the megatouch guy apparently decided to erase the scores. All my glory is gone. Boohoohoo.

Food

I just had a Gargantuan Low Carb Lettuce Wrap at Jimmy Johns. It was spectacular. Remember, no breads.

Is anyone going out this evening?

What to say?

Shoot. I don't really know what to say. I've had a busy past few days. I worked Friday night then went to mojo's afterwards. Saturday I went bowling, then to Browns, then to Eds, then to Mojo's, then to Dennys and got home at 5:30am on Sunday morning. Sunday I got up at about 2pm then went to Showme's, then to Harry's, then to poker, then to well... you'll just have to ask me about that one in person. Monday I went to Ed's and watched the DVR of the HD broadcast of the Oscars on the 52 inch tv with Robyn. Hung out there for a while longer, then went to the bar, then went home and ate, then went and worked out, then to the bar, then went to mojo's to play pinball, then back to the bar, then home and to bed. I woke up this morning pissed that the weekend went by so fast. But at least I can say I didn't sit at home doing jack crap for my 3 day weekend.

Today I am going to lunch with the non-blogging Mr. Shoo. I ran into him at FitClub last night after I finished my gruelling tredmill time.

Oh, I went shopping for some clothes on Sunday. I got the most awesome deal at a normally expensive store. I went to Big & Tall with Robyn. They were having a 20% off entire store sale. Well, they also had a rack with stuff that was up to 70% off. Well, I got shirts that are normally $30, $25, and $45 and total for the purchase including tax was just $21.50. I was so stoked. ALSO I bought an XL dress shirt in preparation for fitting into it soon and guess what, yeah, it actually fits NOW. I love bargains!!

I should start shopping at Goodwill now! I can fit into normal sized clothes!

Day 4 of Lent

I woke up this morning feeling fine and there's someone special on my mind. Heh. I love that song. Anywho, I hit the scales this morning and I have lost 2 more pounds. For a total of 5 pounds since Wednesday. That puts me at 93 pounds lost total.

Right now the Illini are just starting their final game of the regular season. I'm about to go in there and watch it. They had better win! ILL!

Friday, March 03, 2006

WAHOO!

Okay. So I am basing my goal of 20 pounds lost on what I weighed yesterday morning after a good day of eating no breads on Wednesday. Well, after yesterday's eating no bread I lost 3 pounds! YES! I love surprising the hell out of myself. So officially I am at 91 pounds lost. Yes I know, there was a post a while back saying I had lost more but that was after I had been starved in the hospital and I gained some but NOT all back. Heck at this rate I could even lose 30 pounds. Well, that might be pushing it. It's hard to tell how my body will react. One day I'll lose weight another I'll stay the same. But this no bread thing is going to be JUST the jump start that I needed to get back on track to becomming skinny.

I am working the door down at DH this evening. Everyone stop by and say hey.

Thursday, March 02, 2006

LOL

I just have to say that YOU need to check out Sterno's blog!

http://sterno.blogspot.com/

Lunch With Mels on Day 2

I just had lunch with Mels. It was a great time. She actually asked me early enough in the day to snag me before I had eaten my lunch at home already. Went to Dublin Pub, I had a chef salad. It was scrumptious. I let Mels have my croutons. Remember, NO BREADS! The only thing I had a problem with is that I asked for vinegar and oil as my dressing for the salad and they don't have that. I'm like what?! Right. I assumed that all restaurants have that. I mean how hard is it to have on hand? I'm sure they cook with vinegar and oil on a daily basis, so why not have it available as dressings. Oh well.

I was going to go walking during my break but now I'm not. Time is running out on me. I like to have a good hour and a half for walking which consists of an hour of walking then a half hour to shower and get back to the flow of my day.

I did however stop in at Burlington Coat Factory to do a little browsing which led to a purchase. GUESS WHAT! I fit into 40 inch jeans! WAHOOOO! My biggie pants that I hold up in the ad are 60 inch dress pants. That is almost 2 feet GONE! Isn't that crazy? 20 inches that I have lost since July. I'm so stoked. And just think of how it will be by the end of Lent. Hard to fathom but it's going to happen. I will soon be fitting into the 30's. I haven't fit into the 30's probably since 8th grade or maybe freshman year of high school. I'm so happy to be back to near full strength. I'm sick of being in the hospital. Detours Suck! Yay for eating healthy and exercising again!

Day 1

Well, Day 1 went very well of eating no breads. I can possibly see myself having lost a pound, maybe. I'm going to base my weight off of what I weigh in the morning because I feel it is more of a clean slate with 1 day under my belt. My stomach is seriously growling right now though. I need to go to bed before I falter.

Happy Lent Everyone!

Click on photo to make bigger.

So I know of a few things people are giving up..

Me - Bread and related breadlike items

Amanda - Fast Food
Monica - Alcohol
Shannon - Cheese
Melissa - Not participating

What is everyone else giving up? Or else who is not participating? I think it is fun to see if you have will power to give something up for 6 weeks.

Lent is a forty-day period before Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday. We skip Sundays when we count the forty days, because Sundays commemorate the Resurrection. Lent begins on 1 March 2006 and ends on 15 April 2006, which is the day before Easter.

In the Roman Catholic Church, Lent officially ends at sundown on 13 April (Holy Thursday), with the beginning of the mass of the Lord’s Supper.

The Lent Bet

Oh it's on like Donkey Kong! I was chatting with a bar friend tonight. He gave up Captain Morgan for Lent. For him, this will be a challenge. I then proceeded to tell him how I gave up breads. Well, somehow this lead to a challenge/bet. We bet, in writing, that whoever can lose 20 pounds by the end of Lent owes the other 10 bucks(something within my price range). So, I now have a goal. 20 new pounds lost by the end of Lent. I think that I can do it. It will be tough because it doesn't fall off as easily as it did when I first started losing weight. I know I need to get back on the losing weight track as opposed to the maintaining track, this is my purpose. I'm stoked and really up for the challenge.

Now I must go to bed. It is just after 1am and I have to be up shortly after 6am. Goodnight all, or good morning!
