It's a beautiful day!

Wow, yesterday was a blast. Started off with some great wings and beer at Show-Me's. My favorite waitress waited on me, too bad she's 19. Then went and browsed at Penny Lane for a while. Came home and cooked out butterfly porkchops, corn on the cob, baked potatoes on the webber grill and had some brownies. Then I whooped my sister at Scrabble yet again because I am the smartest man alive. Then I went to Mowie's Cue and shot pool for a few hours then went down to Brewhaus to have a few beers and play some pinball while listening to a pretty good band. After closing down Brewhaus I went swimming at my friend's place with a big group and my friend and I were the only ones who actually had suits. After that everyone went to Denny's for some late night grub and I ended up getting home at almost 5am.

Today I slept in but it is only shortly afternoon. Now I am about to do my good deed for the day and help my dad move more belongings into the home for my great aunt and uncle. After that Sky is the limit. Betsy G is home too!!!

In your eyes

I went to the eye doctor on Friday. The doctor couldn't find anything superficially wrong with my eyes. Ran a few tests and such and he says they seem fine except for the drooping factor. He eluded to the fact that maybe the one eye has always been droopy and even looked at my driver's license. He really made me feel like I was just blowing smoke in his face. Anywho, I do have a follow up appointment and I have to take photos in for him to compare. Says it could be something underlying that he can't get from the quick tests.

Here is a pic of me now...

And old photos of me...

Frozen Vodka Lemonade's

Summer is officially here! DH Brown's at 3rd & Monroe in downtown Springfield has started up the Frozen Vodka Lemonade machine.

Prices this year are as follows
Wednesday and Thursday $1.75
Friday and Saturday $2.25

And as in years past no FVL's on Mondays and Tuesdays.

DH Brown's hours are M-F 3:00pm until 1:00am
and Saturdays 7:00pm - 1:00am

So stop on by and cool off and sip on a cool one. I am carding at the door on Fridays as usual. I hope to see all of you!

Tomorrow

I haven't had my eye looked at yet. It is still droopy though. Right on my pupil and I can see my eye lashes all the time on my right eye. Tomorrow is my eye doctor appointment. I am hoping that it isn't anything drastic. I did talk to my school nurse about it and she said that I should get it looked at especially since it is something new and not something that I've been dealing with my whole life. I asked also if it should have immediate attention or if I could wait until my appointment and she said that I could wait until my appointment. So tomorrow evening I will probably have a post about how it went. Not during the day though as I have an extremely busy day and I won't be at home and able to post.

TONIGHT! X-Men: The Last Stand, Midnight Showing with Molly. I am soooooooooo EXCITED! YAY!

Someone you care about seeks reconciliation

Lucky Numbers 1, 2, 15, 31, 34, and 42

So I had lunch with RD today. Well, he ate while I drank an iced tea because I had already had lunch at home but was willing to hang out while he ate. It was a good time. We went to Buffet City off of Chatham Rd. and Wabash.

This Thursday night or rather Friday morning at 12:01am I am going to the midnight showing of X-Men: The Last Stand with Molly D. I am soooooooo STOKED! I LOVE midnight showings. So in response to Shoo's posted comment as to whether or not I am going. Hell yeah I am going and yes I will stay through the credits.

Other than that not much going on here. Last night I had tried to organize a movie night by getting a bunch of people to go see Mission Impossible 3. It failed. No one wanted to go or everyone was unable to go. I was highly disappointed. I ended up hanging out with a friend of mine instead which was more enjoyable and cheaper too. I hadn't done a movie night in a few months since I had all that hospital time and such. I thought that maybe people would be interested in starting it back up. Something to do that is not bar related. Maybe I will just try on an individual basis for going to the movies. Like how it is just Molly D and I going to see X-Men this coming Thursday night. I do have a few one on ones that I would like to see happen.

Halloweenmovies.com promises that huge news on Halloween 9 will be revealed shortly.

Actress Halle Berry talks about a possible X-Men 4: “There is no real significant talk about it, but I think if this one did well it would warrant a fourth one. I am sure the studio would be thinking that the franchise is not dead and people love X-Men and want to see another one and I think they would [do another one]. I would [do it] as long as I could. I have got some projects now that should keep me busy for the next two or three years if I am lucky. It is a franchise that I love and a character that I love and now that I have a voice in the movie I really love it. If another great X-Men came along I could probably change my plans.”

Over 1,000 pieces of Star Trek memorabilia are up for auction to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the franchise. Fit For Life

I am so unpredictable. Not really. I can predict that I may try to be unpredictable. But YES!, I have gotten back into walking/jogging. THANK GOD! And not a moment too soon. I went for a walk/jog with Kirsten last night. That was great. I really needed the jump start and on short notice she said yes to joining me. That means a lot to me. And during my break today I just went for a good steady walk. It feels great. Isn't it weird how when you exercise you think, this isn't that bad and you feel great afterwards but when you slack off and haven't done it in a while it becomes more and more intimidating and you get more and more lazy and it just doesn't end up happening no matter how much you know you need to. It is a vicious cycle of laziness causing laziness. Being depressed doesn't help the cause either. Anywho, I hope to be walking/jogging more often now. I did it during the day today because I have Young Adult Group this evening after work and I wouldn't have as much time to fit it in. Oh, btw, it is FREAKIN GORGEOUS outside! WOW! 75 degrees and sunny and no humidity to speak of, I love it! My kind of weather right there.

Self Diagnosis

So I got told that I have Hypochondria last night, jokingly I believe. Hypochondria is a somatoform disorder in which one has the unfounded belief that he or she is suffering from a serious illness.

Everytime that I have something wrong with me there is actually something wrong. Unfortunatly things keep happening. I get better from one thing then another problem arises. What I "think" I have now is a thing called "droopy eye" or ptosis. I'm not sure though but something defintely is wrong. My right eye has gotten progressively blurrier than my left and now my eyelid is hanging really low over my eyeball. This is my own diagnosis of course. I have been thinking that this would go away but it hasn't. Some say they don't notice but I think it depends on the time of day but it looks like my right eye is half asleep. It doesn't bother me too much but I feel that this could be an underlying problem of something else and I would rather get it checked out now while it is new than to get screwed over later and lose my vision or something serious along those lines.

This is a link to a description of my self diagnosis.

Here is a pic I found that looks similar to what my eyelid is doing.

I have an appointment scheduled for the Friday after this coming Friday with an ophthalmologist. Hopefully he can fix it or tell me what can be done.

Well, I've heard of heartbreakers

I just had to post this. Credit is not due to myself but to Lauren.

Who says you can't go back

I was having a discussion with friends about cousins and family that is "removed" and we couldn't come to an agreement on what is the right terminology for those family members. I found this chart and it clarifies most everything. Apparently I've been mislead as to what to call distant cousins.

Never argue with a woman

One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book. Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?" "Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious?") "You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her. "I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading." "Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up." "If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman. "But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden. "That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment." "Have a nice day ma'am," and he left.

MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It's likely she can also think.

An Ogre Birthday!

Happy Birthday To Philly Cream Cheese! 26 years young.

Wednesday, May 10, 2006

There is so much a man can tell you, so much he can say.

So not much going on in K's world. I mowed one of our yards yesterday. Although I usually dread doing the mowing afterwards I always have this feeling of satisfaction because the yard looks great and I got exercise.

Yesterday evening I watched the Cubs game with Amanda. That was pittiful. I don't know how much more of this losing streak I can take. 8 game losing streak. 12 runs in 10 games. It's horrible!

Besides that well. I'm just trucking along. Looking for something to appear. Something to shoot for.

I gotta get out of this town, if it's the last thing I ever do

Today sucked. Work dragged. My break was okay, had lunch with Shoo and then hung out with Amanda and Erica for a little bit and they headed home and relaxed for a bit. After work not much to speak of, dinner with the parents then I went to Moho's to watch the game and drink some water and play some pinball. Ran into Ed and Robyn. Then I headed home because I'm tired and not in the mood.

I think I'm burnt out without doing the things necessary to be a burn out. I'm not happy. I'm doing my best to put on a happy face.

My parents are worried about me. They keep expressing concern but it is mainly over me going to school full time. Who would have thought but they are claiming they know me better than I know myself. Maybe they do. Maybe I can prove I'm not a screw up. I know many people would argue that statement but it is in the eye of the beholder and depends on the area in which you are arguing.

I'm out. Peace.

Counting flowers on the wall, That don't bother me at all

Went to a Chiefs game yesterday. I saw Kerry Wood pitch a rehab start and he was phenomenal. 12 strike outs in 5 innings, very impressive.

Besides that I got nothing. Trying to find the sunshine on this dark cloudy day.

We're good for something

The corn dog on a stick also originated in Springfield, where it is sometimes still called a Cozy Dog. Another culinary pecularity that is not nearly as well known outside of the city is the horseshoe sandwich, a type of open-faced sandwich. For many years the popular Reisch Beer was brewed in Springfield. Springfield is also known to many as the "Chilli capital of the World." The unique double 'l' spelling is comonly used in many area parlors throughout the city and county. This peculiar spelling of "chilli" in Springfield originated with the founder of the Den Chilli Parlor in 1909. His sign in the parlor was misspelled. Other folks believe the spelling matches the first four letters in Illinois. A proclamation proclaiming Springfield "the Chilli Capital of the Civilized World" was passed by the Illinois legislature in 1993. It's backed up by the city's long chilli history.

Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Things have been looking up. I think that my life is finally getting some direction. Big news in my life that is really important to me is that I am going back to college full time starting in just 1 month's time. This summer I am taking 2 classes totalling 7 credit hours and this coming fall I am so far signed up for 4 classes totalling 12 credit hours. I am still taking classes at LLCC because they are more affordable and transfer to U.I.S. I am still planning on going into Elementary Education although I have contemplated going into Special Education. I'll decide when the time gets closer. My first goal is to take these classes and get B's or better. I have to get my G.P.A. up in order to move up. Wish me luck!

*Update: I am now taking 5 classes totalling 16 credit hours in the fall.

Humorous

Hope this cartoon pic is okay to post but I found it rather humorous.

How True

Reading is Escapism

So I have gotten into reading again. I still don't read everyday or anything but I am doing it more frequently than when I was forced to growing up in school. I am currently reading the Chronicles Of Narnia which I am loving. It is fantastic and deeply laced with religious and mythological references which intrigues me.

Here are a few of my favorite authors:

J. K. Rowling
Jules Verne
C. S. Lewis
Ray Bradbury
J. R. R. Tolkien
Eoin Colfer
Douglas Adams

I plan on trying to broaden my readings within these few authors' works for a while then I want to go to other similar authors. Does anyone have any suggestions based on the authors I'm already fond of?
