Blond Kyle?

No photoshop editing done here. These are scanned photos of me when I worked at Baskin Robbins circa 1997-98. I can't figure out the date because well... it was so long ago and I don't remember for sure when I bleached my hair. Honestly I had forgotten that I had done that. Check me out!

Super Tired

I don't know what it is but I for the most part haven't gotten out of bed yet today. Besides a little to eat and now a little computer time. I didn't over do it last night either. If I had then I'd think, oh okay, it's because of that. I guess I'm just pretty tired then. I do have to leave for work in an hour. I don't want to go, I hope it isn't busy.

Last night was dead at the bar. A few people I know came and hung out with me by the door. That was cool. Thanks.

Update 97.7

I was informed that 97.7 the River and then 97.7 TV97 are both no longer. It is now 97.7 "Alice" which I think might be Alice Cooper because I know he has a radio show that is pretty popular. I know a lot of you probably don't care because you have indulged in the ipod craze and never listen to the radio. My thing is that I love the radio, I have no need for an ipod, so I am excited when new stations come about or old stations change format. The music sounds tolerable. Check it out.

TV97

So, I got a call today from Molly. She says, I have to turn on 97.7 on the radio. So I turn it on and it is no longer The River. It is TV97 and is ALL television theme songs. It's crazy. That's all it is. At one point they said they were going to have some commercials and it was a montage of old commercial jingles. I don't know how well a station will do like this because a person can only listen to tv theme songs for so long and just after an hour I did hear repeats. If you don't believe me, check it out. It blows my mind.

I found two websites for The River...

The first one is the new TV97 http://www.theriver.fm/

The Second is the old WYVR cached out there http://www.theriver.fm/playlist/index.php

While looking for the website I found this neat website where you can find all radio stations for a certain city or zip code. It is pretty cool. I liked it and it's neat seeing all of the stations we get around here compiled. Check it out http://www.ontheradio.net/Stations.aspx

This may be one of my better Valentines' Days that I have had. Granted I am single and I am with no actual date but I had a wonderful time.

Participants in my Valentines' Day include Molly, Josh, Willsie, Sarah W and random other contributors. I hope your VD was as fun as mine.

Goodnight and Goodluck.

I like me some Darcy's

If I have a daughter I might name her Darcy because I love the restaurant Darcy's so freakin much. I got picked up today by a friend cause she wanted to go to Darcy's really bad. So we went and I got a supreme pony shoe. Yes, I got a pony, but I did this because we split an appetizer of fried white cheddar cheese balls. And the supreme shoe is a really big portion cause they add things to it to make it bigger than the normal shoe. So anywho, saw a few people from the bar that I know there, that was it though. Although there was this redhead that I thought I knew but I couldn't place it. Love those redheads. Our waitress was good. She did a good job of keeping up on my refills and she was pregnant too. Props to her for doing good work while carrying a child. She got a big tip.

I think our waitress thought we were on a Valentines Date or something because she specifically put the bill down right in front of me. My friend and I both only had plastic and the bill wasn't divided so I just went ahead and paid it. So I made it look like we were on a date, it was fun. What's funny is that my friend, she is going on her real vday date tonight with her boyfriend and he is taking her to Saputos. So she is making out like a bandit today. I don't mind though, she's an old old friend.

While we were there I was joking around saying that I should totally stand up and start raising my voice saying that I'm breaking up with her and it's over and I never want to see her again and get the entire restaurant to stare at her. She's like, I'd probably say I don't know you. Then I'd say from across the restaurant "oh I knew you say something like that!" She was cracking up. Then I said, I wish I had the balls to do that cause it would be hillarious. Then she said, She's glad I don't have the balls to do that because that would be awkward and crazy. Also, she drove and then i'd have to either come back to the table to wait outside for her to take me home...

Shoveling

I wish we had a snow blower. I thought we had one but my dad said he sold it over 10 years ago, I don't think that is accurate but who knows. Not me.

So I shoveled my car out of the huge snow bank that built up around it. I thought I was being smart by parking under the car port in our duplex drive way. Nope, not really because then I still got burried since the snow was blowing like mad. Plus I then had about 30 feet of driveway behind me with snow a few feet deep. So instead of parking by the road and just having a little bit to shovel, I had a ton of snow to shovel. Yay me! Well, I had good intentions of shoveling every last bit from my car to the road. I probably got about a fourth of the way there when I thought, "how about I just clear the high piles of snow and then drive through it". Well, it worked. I now have some nice ruts from my car for my car to get through. And I didn't have to shovel the whole freaking driveway either.

So, next time we have a good snowfall like this remind me not to park so far away from the street. The farther you are away from the street the more snow you have to get through before you reach the street.

Suh-Weet!

Well, School District 186 who usually waits until the last minute to call off school has officially called school off for Wednesday. I heard it at about 6:10pm on the local news. YAY! This is like a 5 and a half day weekend for me because I've been off since my morning shift on Friday. I did work Hollywood last night but thats it.

Now, what to do with all this free time...

Springfield Is Closed

Well, the whole city of Springfield is officially closed. When I got the call from Hollywood saying that the store is closed for the day and I don't have to come in, I knew it was serious.

This Blizzard is crazy. I really want to go out and play in the snow because how often do you get fresh snow this high to play in? I mean really. BUT I'm a big old wuss and really don't feel like bundling up and freezing my ace off. So absolutely no work for me today and tomorrow might be the same. I can only hope... Well I'm not totally hoping because that means that at the end of the school year we will go that much longer into summer...

I am wondering if pizza places are open? My car is in a huge snow drift and shoveling it out would be like a half hour chore because I have to get the length of drive way behind it too.

Illini players Carlwell, Smith injured in car accident

By Steve Bauer The News-Gazette Web Site - www.news-gazette.com
Tuesday, February 13, 2007 7:52 AM CST

University of Illinois basketball player Brian Carlwell, a passenger in a car driven by teammate Jamar Smith, was listed in critical condition this morning at a local hospital. Illinois sports information director Kent Brown said Carlwell suffered a severe concussion.
Illinois coach Bruce Weber spent the night in the hospital with Carlwell. So did Illinois basketball trainer Al Martindale.

"We just hope and pray Brian is going to be OK," Weber said.
The two basketball players were injured in a single-car crash late Monday, according to University of Illinois police Sgt. Vanessa Horsman.
Smith, 19, who listed an address in the 1100 block of Sterling Court, Savoy, was driving a car north on First Street between 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Monday.
For unknown reasons, Smith's car crossed the center line and struck a tree on the west side of the street at 2021 S. First St.. she said.

"The accident is still under investigation," Horsman said. "We're trying to determine why he crossed the street and struck a tree."
Carlwell, 19, who lives in a campus dorm but whose local address was not reported, according to Horsman, was a passenger in the car.
Both were taken to Carle Foundation Hospital, where Smith was treated and released, according to Carle House Officer Debra Inman. Brown said Smith suffered a concussion.
Smith, a part-time starter from Peoria, is averaging 8.1 points and 1.9 assists this season.

Carlwell, a reserve who has appeared in 26 of the Illini's 27 games, is averaging 1.7 points and 1.4 rebounds. Both were News-Gazette All-Staters after outstanding high school careers at Peoria Richwoods and Proviso East, respectively.
The Illini practiced Monday night. They are off until a Sunday home game against Northwestern. Smith's status will be determined later.

Snowadays

I love driving in the snow. Okay, there is only half truth to that. I love driving in the snow in the middle of the night when the roads have barely been plowed and I am practically the only one on the road. It is like a ride at an amusement park that I have total control or sometimes no control over. I play it safe enough but sometimes I'll speed up just a little and the hit the brakes a little harder in order to get that sliding effect. I'm not good at donuts, so I don't even try that. I do enjoy watching other people do them so long as they are not doing it anywhere near my car.

I do not enjoy driving in the snow when there are tons of other people driving all crazy around me. I have respect for myself and other cars enough to drive very defensively.

This is what www.weather.com is telling me at 2am....

**A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TUESDAY NIGHT. ***

SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD AREAS NORTH OF PEORIA AND BLOOMINGTON THROUGH 1 AM. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY AND BE HEAVY AT TIMES. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 6 TO 8 INCHES NORTHWEST OF THE ILLINOIS RIVER...WITH 8 TO 12 INCHES FROM THE ILLINOIS RIVER SOUTHEAST TO NEAR THE I- 70 CORRIDOR. Welcome to Kyle Still Kyle

I finally broke down and switched over to the "New Blogger." Actually I was forced to, somehow it made me do it. I kept looking for that little link that says to not transfer... blah blah blah. I did not see it. I was planning on doing it soon though because I am nearing my 1000th post on my blog and I thought that would be a neat way to celebrate 1000 posts. This is post 976, damn blogger. So Happy Early 1000th post to me! From what I hear this new no-longer-beta version of blogger is supposed to be pretty nice with many more options. We will see.

I made some minor changes to the links on the right. I slightly regrouped and I also added some other links that may be worth a look. I'm still a fan of green since green is my favorite color.

Chicago was a blast. I had the best Chinese buffet on Sunday at a place called Buffet Palace. I actually had escargot. It was gross but apparently it wasn't the high end escargot, it was the cheap stuff. If there is a difference though, I'm sure it isn't much.

Another Runner In The Night

Here I sit at Ed and Amanda's place. I am watching Ed play some Super Mario World on the Wii and I am waiting for some pizza to arrive. Yes, I know it is 3:10am but this is freaking Chicago, I can get pizza delivered until 5am. Ed sucks at Super Mario World, FYI. He should stick to the original Super Mario Bros. I saw Cowboy Mouth last night. I still have to say that they are THE best live band ever. To be able to get me to jump around like they do is quite a feat. Tonight I went to a bar on the northside or "uptown" called Hamiltons. It was a cool place with affordable drinks and a college like atmosphere which means there were lots of cute young ladies there. I feel so old. Although there was a lot of 80's music being played for people to dance to on the dance floor and I enjoyed that quite a bit. Now I just want that pizza to get here so I can eat it and pass the F out.

Have I ever said how much I love getting away from Springfield? Well, you know the old commercials when people would say they have a headache "this big" and it is screaming for excedrin? Imagine Yao Ming stretching his arms apart as far as he can to describe how much I love getting out of Springfield....

I will be back sometime on Sunday evening. Later!

Friday, February 09, 2007

I'm on my way, and I know where I'm going....

I'm headed to the best city in the world, to see the best band in the world, with some of (but not all of) the best friends in the world. I'll be back Sunday night! Yay for fun.

Happy Birthday Shannon!!

I know everyone loves that I don't delete photos... ;)

Happy 28th Birthday to my sister Shannon. Monday February 5th.

Poor Showing

Those Bears. Those freak'n Bears. The first few minutes were so damned exciting and then nothing but moans and groans and a whole lotta heartache. I was disappointed in the commercials too. Sure there were a few funny ones but nothing that I will be discussing tomorrow at work. Well, maybe the one where instead of the fist bump people are supposed to slap each other in the face. I found that one really funny. Maybe there were a few that I missed. There is usually a site I go to, to check them all out. I'll check them out sometime in the next few days.

Other than the Bears not putting on a good show. Congrats to the Colts, they did play very well. Bah, should have been the Bears though. Poor Lovie.

I'm finally doing better. I haven't been hit that hard by the flu in years. I'm still not back to 100% yet but I will be returning to work in the morning and I do work Hollywood Monday night too, so hopefully I can handle a full day of work again. I haven't drank alcohol in over a week. I've had so much juice and gatorade that I could possibly bust. I won't though. Plenty of rest and Plenty of fluids. I think I'm going to keep the no alcohol thing going until this coming weekend when I go to Chicago. YAY! Can't wait for Chicago! Molly! Cowboy Mouth! ED and Amanda! Anything but Springfield! YAY!

Flu

So, I got the flu shot at the beginning of flu season. Paid about 30 bucks for the shot. I was so proud that I got it, thinking to myself, haha! Now I won't get the nasty icky flu.

Well, as the doctor stated today, there are cases where the flu shot does not always prevent getting the flu. I got the full blown flu. I think that I've had it all week and I've been ignoring it. Well, that is until I had the worst sleep ever tuesday night so that I called in for the whole day on Wednesday. Probably should have gone in to the doctor then but I thought. I know how to deal with the flu... plenty of fluids and plenty of rest. Well, today I wasn't doing much better. I attempted to do the morning shift. I made it but now I feel bad that I was even there. After my morning shift today I said, I've had it, I'm going to get this checked out.

So I went. Temp of 102, full blown flu, and highly contagious. My parents were very happy to hear that. They started sterlizing everything that I may have touched over the past few days. They already have been keeping their distance. I'm on some meds I've never had before. Not antibiotics, cause those don't work on the flu anyway.

I expect to be better for the superbowl. Go Bears!

As for the step 1, I got set back by sickness. Seriously, Monday and Tuesday, I felt so crappy that I couldn't do much of anything and then it was an onslaught, now I'm trying to get better. I still plan on heading downtown to get apps, but it's gotta wait til next week.
